Otto Lancelle

Otto Lancelle was a Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II and a recipient of both the Pour le Mrite and Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. The Pour le Mrite was the highest military order of the German Empire. The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Otto Lancelle was killed by a sniper onJuly 1941 at the Krslava Bridgehead on the Dvina near Krslava, Latvia. He was posthumously promoted to Generalleutnant and awarded the Knights Cross.
